Peckham Piano School
Home to pianists Tom Floyd and James Long, Bosie (the grand piano) and Rupert (the beagle).
About us
We're a pair of classically-trained musicians and a not-so-classically-trained dog. We give the sort of piano lessons you wish you had received as a kid, but probably didn't.
Learning the piano is hard — there's no getting around that — but it should also be fun. Music plays a huge role in all our lives, and the piano is an amazing gateway for discovery and self-expression.
We work with students of all ages: our youngest is seven, and our oldest would probably prefer we didn't say! Our philosophy is 'everyone is different' and there's more to life than exams (although we do maintain a 100% pass rate!).
Meet the team
TOM FLOYD
I completed my Masters at the Royal Academy of Music and as well as teaching I work as a composer and conductor. Secretly a middle-aged man, when off the clock I'm most likely to be found in the garden.
JAMES LONG
I studied Music at King's College, Cambridge and the Royal College of Music and now balance a career as a pianist, music publisher and teacher. Hobbies include pickling, brewing and DIY (yes for me it's a hobby).
RUPERT THE DOG
I didn't pursue a classical music education, favouring a more expressionist route. My playing has been described as avant-garde, but I don't like the use of labels. Hobbies include and largely related to food,
